I just stayed up all night playing THIS:
http://www.survival.com.my/

Yes yes I know, I PAID for FFXI....but it does not give me the wholsome enjoyment THIS does....

I'm honestly considering just quitting and never coming back to it....I'm alos NOT looking into any other PAY FOR MMORPG...they really aren't worth it in the end. You put time, money and effort and you just don't get the rewards you deserve.

SLEEP

Nifty...I Dl'ed it and just tried a round on channel 1...at first I was like "these controls are the worst controls ever!" and then I began to figure out that it's played almost more like SubSpace or a racing game and then it made sense. Dunno if I have much free time this week to sink into it, but I'll probably give it some more whirls when I can. Female avatar named "Nanoha".

I felt the controls were a bit wonky in the beginning to...then after playing for hours straight...they became a bit more intuitive. It's also helpful zooming past monsters, they also DO have a racing mini-game as well as a "dodgeball" type game.

I also like the game bacause after the first tutorial levels, you can play at your own pace, the only difference between Channel 2 and 3 is just the level of dungeon and most time people open a level 5 dungeon on either. I would sink time into getting into channel 2, after that...go at you own pace.

I signed up as male, but now I want to change because I thought that it made a difference in what my character looks like, like in Ragnarok Online.

However I soon found out that depending on the level I'm swapping between them (Roland still sucks though, I go for Cream or Shamoo on Fire levels and Hawk on the others) so it only matters what the little icon shows next to my name.

I'll add you to my friends list as well ^^, I go by the same name.

Kinda like bumper cars, heh.

Yeah, I got to channel 2. Pretty fun, though I don't quite get the card system and such just yet. I'm really hoping someone will do a full english port of Panya (a cute fantasy anime-style online golf game from Korea) later..I've peeked into it but the english site only gives some basic pointers and you have to currently go through the Japanese or Korean site to get in. On that one you ARE forced to take a character your gender, at least in the free game, but I had a hunch on that one and chose fem.

Ys 6 came out in the US for PS2. It's been trashed with a nasty dub and horrible chinese-animated 3D cg cutscenes, but thankfully there is a code that lets you unlock the original anime cutscenes and Japanese voices, so I'm happy enough with it. I'll probably play it to get the dialogue, then replay it on my PC copy to get the better graphics. :D Survival Project definitely is tapping into my fondness for 2D action games dressed up like RPGs...

I think I understand the card system a little bit. White cards let you upgrade, white cards are the cute elemental character ones. You won't have any right away. The other cards improve stats, a good one to get is the pendant. I picked Wind because it seemed better. The elements are as follows: Fire = Slow/powerful, Wind = Quick/slightly weaker| Water = average, Earth = slightly better than average but I'm not sure what. I'm still not sure the difference between Skill level and actual card level...I am just guessing the more expensive conversion is the best one.
Panya sounds interesting...if they have some English stats for it, they just might drag it over.

I saw the disc sitting at best buy and wondered what htye did to it. I do say that is what comapnies SHOULD do, if they are going to butcher it...keep the original in there somehow, wheter an option or a code or an extra for suffering or something. I just want to know I can play the game without the dull crappy English voices. My only drawback is that I don't own a PS2, otherwise I'd pick it up.
I like the Korean games better than my Square Japanese OMG-oodness I payeed for this, they sure know how to say, "2d overhead hack and slash game....let's put it online!!" "2D tank game with the different bullets and vehicles...let's put it online!"

Just remember, Survival Project will always be FREE. :D I just wish there were more dressed up 2D RPG games...I just wish I had a PS2.....

Well, I've seen torrents frequently for the PC version of Ys 6 (and have a copy myself). But it's raw Japanese. :/ Action RPG though so pretty straightforward (and there are FAQs). I wish they just made the Japanese a selectable option on the PS2 one, not an in-game "cheat code". The game is already getting bad marks for the dub and cutscenes by folks who don't know better.

They did replace the 2D sprites in the game with 3D poly characters, but given the detail of the sprites and resolution of the PS2, I think it was a good decision actually. The poly characters are fine in-game, it's only the Chinese-animated cutscenes that don't match very well.

Is the name as "Ys 6" I've been looking for the subtitle of it X_X. Wasn't there a translation out there.
I just wish companies would learn that dubbing the game makes it suck...most games don't need redubing, you usually get text and speech, only the cutscenes need subtitles...and more people like subtitles....
