Post of a Different sort.

Well, in my thesis research I came across an interesting article aboutWoW and how one user was reprimanded for advertising their guild and GLBT friendly, where one GM Caydiem (who is well known in the forums) got out his smacking stick and smacked her with a warning because this COULD lead to harassment. The issue has been resolved and I hope that Caydiem got the smackdown laid upon him.
I find it ironic that throughout the WoW game there are tons of people getting harrassed and nobody does a thing about it. Heck, even most of the female dance moves are sexually offensive to someone and can receive flames. Most of the time they say to /ignore the user or /blist them and the GMs go on with their happy lives.
I do like in this article:

that someone does mention that:
The fact that most people I've talked toguessed that the average Blizzard fan would react this way tells yousomething. Now, if that's a comment on America, 14-year-old boys, or the world in general I'm not sure."
It does tell me something when they EXPECT this behavior from their subscribers, meaning that the other subscribers can't do or say anything that's going to inflame these fanboys.
Members of other gaming companies haveexpressed their concern at Blizzard's situation and said thatrecruiting for a GLBT-friendly guild in a general chat channel may nothave been appropriate.
I disagree with this as SOME guilds simply stand in a town and shout for recruitment to a guild. True there are other "ordained" methods of doing this, but advertising in any way shouldn't be frowned upon.
However I don't join guilds where the person simply shouts adverts, I mean they are asking for EVERYONE to join then and we all know that everyone pretty much well sucks. I like for a guild to recruit ME, that means they are select and that Joe Blow McChatspeakFlamer probably is not going to be a member since these type are usually close knit and tend to be family like.
All I have to say is that I'm glad that I quit WoW and went back to FFXI. Even though the policy there is "just don't give damn" to harassment She would have been able to /sh her linkshell and probably would have been met with either silence or numerous tells some of which could be harassing and some of which might be people wanting to join. The GMs would have told her to /blist the harassing people and gone on with their daily lives. That's the way the world mostly works anyways, unless you get the jackasses that want to get physical in their "protest".
I also notice that in the fallout of thisthey banned samesex marriages. Well, they harped on the fact that real world issues shouldn't be in game:

However they have in-game marriages. I agree with the quote, it DOES blow it out of the water.
For note, FFXI does NOT officially have same sex marriages, HOWEVER you can craft up the wedding gear (female only, guys just wear their best aketon) and have your own wedding with LSmates and what not and the GMs won't bat a eye. THe best place to do it is in an unpopulated are however because populated areas are where the people will interrupt it...intentionally and unintentioally.
also note that this original post to the thing HAS BEEN DELETED!!:

I read also on Kotaku about people saying Gay Freindly means Gay Only! I beg to differ, the
