I was looking on Ask Jeeves for information on a totally different show (don't ask which one... *embarassed*) when I noticed that Yu Gi Oh was on the dropdown list. Is it airing in North America now? Or is it going to be brought over?

I'm impressed that they brought Medarots/Medabots over, given its rather iffy premise ("Hey kids! It's just like Pokemon, only using sentient robots who have a body part wrenched off of them as a trophy when they lose a battle!") I played a few ROMS trial versions of one of the Yu Gi Oh battle-games... Capsule Monsters, I think. At least that game seemed a *little* less disturbing than Medarots.

Yu Gi Oh is (was?) a series that focuses on a number of different games.

Duel Monsters, I think, is the collectible card game that becomes a focus in many of the episodes; while there wasn't the same "Gotta catch 'em all" spirit as in Pokemon, I believe there were a few plots surrounding rare cards/monsters and the value thereof.

I'm not sure where the Capsule Monsters (? I think that was the name) game comes into the series, or the canon of that world in general. It took place in the Yu-Gi-Oh world and featured the main characters and villains, though.

Capsule Monsters was closer to a monster collecting game, in that there were many monsters that you pitted against other monsters. It's been a while since I played the ROM trial version, but I think that the main benefit in collecting monsters was that the monsters available for purchase became less sucky as you progressed in the game.

The game play was interesting; for each turn you could choose to move your monster, make your monster attack, or make your monster do something else, I forget what. I never progressed very far with that particular game, since I was a bit vexed by my tendency to trap my own monsters between two enemy monsters. :p

Also because I kept feeding starchips into the vending machines and getting doubles of monsters I already had.

I hope I didn't sound too terse....just that I type in the message twice and it deleted it twice...

I never got to far in the capsule game, I coulnd't figure out what to do since I beat everyone once and such....

Capsule monsters was introduced by Mokuba, Yuugi fights him in the game and beats him.
The thing is in the manga the capsule monsters are one of those fads that pops up and of course everybody is into it...
